Overview
Overview
This six-session programme, Women Artists 1850–Today, invites participants to explore the groundbreaking contributions of women artists from the 19th century to the present. Delivered in collaboration with FAMM (Female Artists of the Mougins Museum), the course traces the journey of female creativity across critical art movements, from Realism and Impressionism to Feminist Art and contemporary practices. Through insightful lectures by art historians Jacqui Ansell and Lizzie Perrotte, the programme highlights how women navigated societal constraints, challenged conventions, and redefined artistic expression.
Participants will explore the works of iconic figures such as Berthe Morisot and Louise Bourgeois, alongside lesser-known but equally compelling artists like Eva Gonzalès and Blanche Hoschedé Monet. With the FAMM collection providing an exceptional lens, the course unveils connections between history, identity, and representation, offering a nuanced understanding of women’s enduring impact on art.
Participants will leave with a deeper appreciation of how women artists shaped and responded to their times, transforming the cultural landscape in ways still resonant today. Whether you are an art enthusiast or a seasoned collector, this course offers a rare opportunity to engage with the rich narratives of women artists, their diverse practices, and the evolving contexts of their work.
